What check cashing places are open on a sunday?
Walmart, Kroger, Publix, Winco, and Moneytree are all open for check cashing on Sundays. You can also cash a check at an ATM or endorse a check over to a third party with money. Banks are closed on Sundays, but grocery store service centers are the next best option.
Walmart
Walmart has Money Service Center hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Cash your check by visiting Walmart with your check and identification.
Walmart will cash pre-printed, payroll, government, tax, cashiers, insurance settlement, 401(k) or retirement disbursement, and Two-Party personal checks. You can also use Walmart for sending money orders.
Walmart cashing limit is $200 for two-party personal checks and $5,000 for other checks. The $5,000 limit increases to $7,500 during January through April.
See Walmart check cashing for more details.
Kroger (e.g. Fred Meyer)
Kroger has over 2,000 stores under the Kroger umbrella. The following stores are owned by Kroger:
- Kroger
- Frys
- King Soopers
- Smith’s
- City Market
- QFC
- Ralphs
- Gerbes
- Baker’s
- Dillions
- Pay Less
- Fred Meyer
- Pick’n Save
- Metro Market
- Marianos
Kroger hours are typically open from 8a.m. to 9 p.m., but hours will vary depending on the store and location. They are open 7 days a week and during most holidays.
Grocery store service centers
Most grocery store service centers are open and available to cash a check on a Sunday. Call ahead of time to verify they cash checks, they’re open, and ask what the check cashing limits are. As with any check cashing, you will need to bring a valid identification.
ATM locations
ATMs are open on Sundays and are usually conveniently located. You can deposit your check at an ATM or via your bank’s mobile app. You can then use the ATM to withdraw the cash equivalent, up to the ATM withdrawal limit.
Moneytree
Moneytree is a check cashing store that is open on Sundays and has numerous locations. The main difference with Moneytree from other check cashing places is their fees. Moneytree charges based on percentage and not a flat fee.
Charging based on a percentage of the check can get expensive fast. Therefore, it’s best to use Moneytree as a last resort.
Check endorsing
You can endorse your check to a third party who has cash on hand. Endorsing a check gives the rights of the check over to the third party who can then cash the check.
For example, you have a check for $100 that you need to cash today. Your family member happens to have $100 on them, but they don’t need the cash themselves.
You endorse the check to your family member and they give you the $100. The family member takes the check and will cash it themselves later, because they are now the owner of the check.
Publix
Publix is typically open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., but hours of operation may vary. You can only cash personal checks up to $75 and payroll checks of $500. Checks over $75 may need to be cashed elsewhere, like Walmart.
WinCo
WinCo will allow you to cash payroll checks under $1,000. There is a $5 fee for checks under $500 anda $10 fee for checks over $500.
Summary: Check cashing places open on a Sunday
As you can see, it is possible to cash a check on a Sunday. The best places to cash a check on a Sunday are grocery store service centers like Walmart, Kroger, and Publix. Each store has their own check cashing limit and hours of operation.
