How do I get paid for social media posts?

You can get paid for social media posts by building a following. Your following should be focused on a niche, or a certain topic. Companies will pay you to send a message which advertises their product. Alternatively, you can sell products to your followers.

So where do you start?

First, you need to understand how you’re going to make money. Also, what social media platform are you going to tackle? Once you’ve decided, choose one of the following methods to make money for social media posts.

Sponsored Posts or Content

You can easily make money with sponsored posts and content. Companies pay you to write content, like Tweets or articles. Your content advertises their products or services.

A company is willing to pay you for multiple reasons. First, the company builds trust with people by appearing on a third party website. Secondly, the company gains access to your highly relevant audience.

Here’s an example of a sponsored tweet.

Sponsored Twitter Post

MacKid Pleasanton is obviously getting sponsored by NABISCO. The products are front and center and the tweet is marked as #ad #sponsored.

Example: Making money on Instagram with Sponsored Posts

Imagine, building an Instagram following around sneakers. Everyone who follows your Instagram loves shoes. Your audience is highly niched.

What if you grew your Instagram account to 300,000 followers? How much money would your Instagram make for a single post?

You’d be surprised, but you can make $10-25 per thousand followers to post on Instagram. Therefore, your following would make between $3,000-7,500!

Where can I find Sponsored Post opportunities?

You can find sponsored post opportunities by working with blogging networks. A blogging network partners brands with influencers. All you have to do is sign up and wait for sponsored opportunities.

Izea is a popular blogging network. Most new bloggers start with Izea before branching out to other networks.

Other networks exists besides Izea. I highly recommend joining multiple networks. Your chances of getting work increase with the more blogging networks you join.

Affiliate Marketing

Did you know that you can make money selling other people’s products? Affiliate marketing allows you to earn a commission selling other people’s products. Fortunately, you can sell these products over social media.

How does affiliate marketing work?

Start by signing up to be an affiliate. Usually, there is a link on the product page or website that says, “become an Affiliate.”

Once you’ve signed up, you receive your own link which you can use to promote. Sales activity is tracked through the link, so you’ll be credited with all sales.

Legally, you need to disclose that you earn money from promoting a product. Honestly, it can be as simple as including a #sponsored in your tweets.

Sell your own courses

Selling your own courses is another way to get paid for social media posts. Check out the Wealth Dad on Twitter:

The Wealth Dad has built a massive following of 18K subscribers! His profile is clearly marked that he sells an index fund investing guide.

How much do you think he’s making? Maybe $100-200? Nope! The Wealth Dad is making over $1,000 per week selling his course.

The Wealth Dad Gumroad profits

You know your audience better than anyone. The Wealth Dad has built his Twitter account around investing. He knows his audience loves investing, so he gives them a product about it.

Sell your services

Alternatively, you can sell your services on social media. For example, you can offer consulting, freelance writing, and social media management. Your followers can hire you to perform those services.

Create premium content

Member subscription services are another great money maker. Create awesome free content to attract subscribers to your social media accounts. Then, provide even better content on your subscription service.

For example, you might have a Twitter account focused on stocks. You provide great stock picks, but keep the top 10 for your paid subscribers. Most people don’t mind paying $20-$50 per month if it makes them more money.

Alternatively, you could provide meal plans for busy moms. Who wouldn’t pay $5-20 for a pre-done shopping list and weeks worth of recipes?

How do people get rich on social media?

The secret to getting rich on social media is your following. Ideally, your audience is built around a certain niche or interest. You can make money by promoting relevant products or advertisements to your audience.

There are four distinct factors which will determine your success on social media. You need to focus on the following to get rich:

  • Number of followers
  • Niche Specific Interest
  • Offer Relevance
  • Offer Price

Let’s take a look at why each is important.

Number of followers

Obviously, if you don’t have any followers you can’t make any sales. Your earning potential increases with the more followers you have. Let’s assume you send out an offer which has a conversion rate of 20%.

With 1,000 followers, you would make 200 sales. Not bad! However, imagine sending that same offer to 100,000 followers. You would make 20,000 sales with 100k followers!

Niche Specific Interest & Offer Relevance

Ideally, you want your following to be interested in one specific thing. Doing so allows you to find relevant offers that they are willing to buy. Without it, you’re going to struggle to sell anything to your audience.

Imagine, signing up for a weight loss course. You really enjoy the weight loss content. However, one day you’re sent an email about Auto Repair. How would you feel if you received this email but never expressed any interest in cars?

Your audience follows you for a reason. Figure out what that reason is and stay true to your audience.

Therefore, pick a subject that you want to build an audience in. Only produce that type of content. Remember, if it doesn’t match your audience then don’t post it.

The same goes for finding a product to sell. Only send your audience offers that are relative to their interest. Your conversion rates will be huge when your offer matches your audience’s interest.

Offer Price

If you want to make money online then you need to consider your offer price. The goal is to find a price for your product that people are actually willing to pay. Ideally, you are making the most amount of sales at the highest price possible.

Selling a high priced product is difficult if people don’t trust you. The higher priced your products are, the more trust you will need to build. Lower-priced items require less trust. People are willing to buy lower-priced items because there’s less risk involved.

Selling low priced items require you to sell volume. Some marketers find that selling volume is easier than selling high-priced items. However, you only need to sell a few high-priced items to make a substantial profit.

High-priced items also have high expectations. To sell something that is high-priced requires immense value. Remember, the bigger your promise the more you can charge.

Which social media is the best for making money?

The best social media is where your audience is hanging out.  Why are people using a specific social media? Find out where your audience is at and then start building an audience.

For example, Twitter is popular in the financial niche. You can find bloggers selling courses on investing and making money. Therefore, I should start with Twitter before branching out two other social media.

LinkedIn is for those people looking to advance their careers. Financial post and career tips do well on LinkedIn.

As a food blogger, you might try Pinterest. Pinterest is heavily focused on food recipes and tips for mothers. You should also try Pinterest for any content related to the household.

Once you have decided on social media, figure out how you’re going to monetize. keep this strategy in mind when you build your audience. Finally, post helpful content that your ideal audience would love to consume.

How much do social media influencers make per post?

Most social media influencers make money depending on the size and relevance of their audience. Usually, the amount also is determined on the social media platform you chose. Generally, you can earn between $10 and $25 per thousand followers for sponsored content.

The number of sponsored posts you do will also affect your income. Obviously, the more posts you do the more you earn. However, you shouldn’t be spamming your audience with constant promotions.

Remember, your audiences there because they love your content. Always nurture the relationship between you and your audience first.

As you can see, growing your audience is one of the best ways to increase your income. The larger you grow your list, the easier it is to make money with less effort.
